Up Lighting

What is it and why should I have it on my wedding day?

I have been DJing since 1990 and have never seen a trend in weddings take off so quickly as Up Lighting has. Up Lighting it is a term used to describe Par Can Lighting which is usually placed at the base of your wedding venue’s floor, in specific locations, and shines beams of light up the venue’s walls or columns touching the ceiling. The color of the light is normally your primary wedding color or can be any combination of colors. The newer style lights have LED bulbs. I recommend this type of bulb because you can easily blend colors to match a specific color and it shines brighter than an “old school” halogen bulb. Although the most important feature is that the bulbs are cool to the touch. They do not emit any heat. So, if you plan on having children at your wedding reception, you will not have to worry about them touching the bulbs and possibly getting hurt.

A few local venues have started offering Up Lighting, including Saratoga National Golf Club, The Franklin Plaza and Mallozzi’s.

I started offering Up Lighting in July of 2010 to all of the Brides & Grooms whose weddings I am DJing, at venues who do not have it in-house. The response has been great! People love the effect it has on the room. Up Lighting can definitely enhance the wedding venue’s ballroom on your wedding day, with your wedding colors! It will give the room your own vibe and make your wedding reception different from anyone else’s.
